The CAT is a new ferry operator offering a connection between the USA and Canada. They cooperate with Bay Ferries and run a regular service between Bar Harbor (Maine, USA) and Yarmouth (Nova Scotia, Canada).
The ferry crossing is offered 6 to 7 days a week with one sailing in each direction per day. The crossing time is just 3.5 hours and thereby saves you the long overland drive around the Gulf of Maine and the Bay of Fundy (the stretch of water between Maine and Nova Scotia).
The CAT uses the state-of-the-art catamaran of the same name “The CAT” to transport passengers and vehicles on their Bar Harbor – Yarmouth route. The catamaran offers space for up to 700 passengers and 200 standard cars and is fitted with cafeterias, a lounge and a children’s play area.
The CAT used to serve the Maine – Nova Scotia route for over 12 years until it was discontinued in 2012. In 2019 The CAT was reintroduced with a new vessel, updated services and a renovated port in Bar Harbor.
