The Greek city of Heraklion is the capital and largest city on the island of Crete. Heraklion has the third largest port in all of Greece, serving over a million passengers each year. Heraklion ferry port is located on the north coast of Crete, only a short walk from the city centre and 145km east of Chania.

The port of Heraklion is easily accessible by public transport, with the 91 public bus dropping passengers directly outside the terminal building. Blue local buses to the Heraklion Airport are available from Bus Station A near the port. Alternatively, there is a taxi rank located opposite the passenger terminal.
