The Berneray ferry terminal sits on the island’s south coast adjacent to the causeway connected to North Uist. Although the harbour is small, a large number of crossings are provided each week between Berneray and Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris. The terminal is unattended, so tickets should be purchased on board the ferry. A free car park including accessible spaces and a bus shelter can be found just ten metres from the terminal, which has toilets and a spacious seated waiting area inside. As an island inhabited since the Bronze Age, there are plenty of fascinating landmarks and historical sites to visit whilst you wait for your ferry. Or, if you prefer, you can simply relax on one of Berneray’s superb sandy beaches.
